Camulos Message

A message from all the staff at Camulos.

To deal with this time away from school, the teachers at Camulos Academy have put together several schemes of work and activity packs for your children to complete while at home. These include:

  • Daily Maths, English and Reading Lessons
  • Activity Booklets
  • Reading Booklets
  • Logins to online resources and activities
  • General updates via their class pages.
  • Online Safety Hub and Posters
  • New! - Daily audio books from David Walliams
  • Now>Press>Play Interactive Resources
  • Harry Potter Online World
  • New! - BBC Bitesize Learning Hub
  • New! - Oaks Academy Online School

The bulk of your class specific resources and plans will be available on your child's class page, each teacher will be uploading resources as needed throughout this time.

We have also, as a school, created a list of Home Learning Portals that parents and children can access from home, some of these are usually paid subscriptions but the fees have been waived in response to the recent closures. These portals can be found on the document below:

The Government has also released an online list with links to online education resources, the link to this resource can be found below.
The Government has also created a new online academy called the Oaks National Academy, this is an online school created by 40 teachers from across the UK. There are daily lessons from experienced teachers on Maths, English and Foundation subjects for EYFS up to Year 10 with each lesson containing videos, quizzes, examples and activities. These lessons might be great for children who need to top up previous learning or for those who want some extra learning on top of what you are already doing.

The BBC have also realised their Bitesize learning portal, you'll find daily lessons for homeschooling in Maths and English for every year group, as well as regular lessons in Science, History, Geography and more. These are taught by a series of experienced teachers alongside some celebrities to make some of the home learning activities a little bit more fun!

As well as this we have a fantastic resource for parents who are moving towards online learning with their children at home, we are a member of National Online Safety, they have a hub that parents can access for home that will help you keep your children safe while learning online, simply click the link below, enter your details and you will have full access:
There is also a wealth of information and guidance about keeping safe online with home learning from ThinkUKnow, please see the link below for more guidance:
Below are some posters that might help you with any issues or queries you might have surrounding online safety while learning at home:
A lot of children are now using the app Houseparty. While this app is undoubtedly useful during this time there are concerns about how it could be used by others on the platform, please see the link below for guidance:
Below are the main yearly packs for each year group, these are also available on your child's class page.
With this, Mr Reeve has also made up a P.E home learning document with some links to keep the children active:
Below are some Key Stage Activity Books, these include more practical and craft related activities but also contain a good amount of English, Reading and Mathematical learning.

Below is the link to the Harry Potter At Home hub where you’ll find all the latest magical treats to keep you occupied - including special contributions from Bloomsbury and Scholastic, nifty magical craft videos (teach your friends how to draw a Niffler!), fun articles, quizzes, puzzles and plenty more for first-time readers, as well as those already familiar with the wizarding world. We’re casting a Banishing Charm on boredom!

This link provides you with the school's Now>Press>Play account, it has a large amount of immersive experiences for children to listen and act along to. Simply log in (the password is nowpressplay), follow the instructions on the first page and you're all set up!

The children should all have had experiences with Now>Press>Play and should be able to tell you a little more about it, for the most immersive experience I would recommend using a pair of headphones, if you have wireless headphones to allow for freedom of movement even better!

The link below is for free audio stories provided by Audible, they have opened up a large amount of their catalogue during the children's time away from school. Simply click the link to start listening!
