Camulos Academy

Bringing Learning to Life

Utilita Cup

On Monday 5th December 2022, 8 pupils from our Year 5 and 6 classes represented Camulos Academy brilliantly at the Utilita Cup.

In an extremely competitive league, Camulos' first match was against St. Clares. The vast majority of the match was extremely close. However, St Clares' clever free kick routine saw them take the lead. Despite going behind, Camulos remained positive and did not let their heads drop. Their perseverance paid off when Kyle scored an equaliser after a great run and a cool finish. We then took the lead as Florin's great pass lead to a counter attack for Kyle to cross to Jacob which gave us a 2-1 lead. A great long distance strike by Jacob in the closing minutes of the match resulted in a 3-1 win for Camulos.

Our next two matches saw us go against extremely strong teams with Kelvedon and Holland Park. Despite two closely fought matches, Kelvedon and Holland Park played well and both won 4-0 and 3-0 respectively. Our final group match was against St Thomas More's Primary School. Camulos played extremely well and had plenty of opportunities to score several goals. However, I hard-fought performance lead to a narrow 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Jacob. Overall, we finished third in our group which was a fantastic achievement.

As the top two teams progressed to a semi-final and a final, we had a final friendly match against Engaines. In an end-to-end match, goals from Jacob and Kyle saw us win 2-0 and win three out of 5 matches. Well played Camulos!
