Bringing Learning to Life

2022/2023 Football League

Gosbecks 3 Camulos 1.

On a sunny yet breezy afternoon, Camulos and Gosbecks competed in a close contest which either team could have won. In a closely fought first half, goalkeeper Callum made a terrific save while Kyle and Jacob both went close. However, Gosbecks took the lead soon before half time to lead 1-0.

In the second half, a great through ball meant Jacob was clean through on goal and calmly slotted an equaliser to make the score 1-1. With just 5 minutes remaining and with other chances to score, Gosbecks quickly scored twice with one being a fantastic free-kick. We congratulate Gosbecks on their 3-1 win and look forward to playing them in the future.

St. John's Green 0 Camulos Academy 9 (nine)

Camulos Academy represented the school proudly in an emphatic 9-0 victory against St John's Green.

Camulos quickly found themselves 2-0 up in the first 5 minutes with Jacob A and Kyle both scoring. The team worked hard on their possession play as well as their goal kick positioning in training as of late and their progression was evident in the remainder of the first half. Overall, Camulos were 6-0 up at half time with goals from Jacob A (3), Kyle (2) and Kamil giving the team a strong lead.

In the second half, Mason, Jacob W and Sam were all substituted on and scored a goal each. Jacob W scored from a great angle, Mason scored a true poacher's goal and Sam provided a smooth finish.

The match finished 9-0 and the team recorded their best victory of the season. The result moves us to third in the league. Well done team!

Prettygate 1 Camulos Academy 2

In a close encounter, Camulos Academy came from behind to claim all 3 points in a 2-1 win against a strong Prettygate side.

Prettygate started strongly and took the lead in the first five minutes of the match. However, Camulos grew into the match and started to create numerous chances. A long range strike from Esa found its way into the back of the net to equalise in the first half.

Unbelievably, Camulos hit the post three times during the match! However, Jacob A was in the right place at the right time to slot past the Prettygate goalkeeper to make the game 2-1. Both teams had further chances to score with Prettygate also hitting the post. Ultimately, Camulos held on and claimed another league win.

The result means we have won 2 of our 3 league games so far. More importantly, the sportsmanship shown by both teams was fantastic and both sets of players were a credit to their school. Well done all!

Home Farm 1 Camulos Academy 1

Camulos' final league match of the season was against league winners, Home Farm. Home Farm had won every single league match this season. However, Camulos Academy earned a wonderful 1-1 draw against the league champions.

In an extremely close contest, Home Farm took a league through a great strike, despite  Year 6's Jack' best effort and making wonderful saves throughout the match. The second half remained equally close. However, A wonder strike from Year 6's Kamill (from inside his own half) allowed to take a credible and deserved point. Both teams had great chances to win but a draw was a fair result.

It was a fantastic result and it ensured Camulos finished in third place. Well team team!
