Camulos Academy

Bringing Learning to Life

SCS Football Tournament

On Monday 10th July, Camulos Academy had a fantastic opportunity to showcase their football talent once again in a football tournament.

For this 7-a-side tournament, Camulos gained a respectable 0-0 draw against the hosting school, Stanway Fiveways. Following on from this, Camulos fought hard in their next two matches against Copford and St. Georges. A fantastic equaliser from Jacob A against Copford was well deserved but a quick counter attack saw Camulos lose 2-1 in a close encounter. Against St. Georges, Camulos were so unlucky not to gain anything from the match. Despite hitting the post, the team lost 1-0.

The team's luck changed after this game and a deserved 1-0 over Monkwick followed with a fantastic long-range goal from Kyle C. Our next match saw Camulos produce an incredibly bright start and went 2-0 up thanks to goals from Jacob A and an own goal from an Kyle C corner. Highwoods quickly responded with a consolation goal but Camulos held on to a 2-1 win.

Our last match of the game saw us play Home Farm, who had won every match of the day. Home Farm scored from a powerful shot and both teams had numerous chances to score several. However, Camulos' Max made incredible saves throughout the day and this match was no different. One of the last kicks of the game saw Camulos' Denzel score a great equaliser to end Home Farm's winning streak with a creditable 1-1 draw.

With two wins, two draws and two defeats, Camulos finished 3rd in the league out of seven teams. Mr Orrin was also awarded coach of the day!! Well done to all pupils who represented the school superbly.
